    What is a WebRTC leak?

WebRTC is a browser technology that powers video calls and live chat without plugins. To connect people directly, it discovers the IP addresses your device can be reached on — and a website can read those addresses with JavaScript. A WebRTC leak is when your real public IP is exposed this way, bypassing the VPN you're connected to.

    How this test works

The test above asks your browser for connection candidates exactly as a website would, then shows any IP addresses it returns. If you see your real public IP while connected to a VPN, your browser is leaking.

What to do if you have a WebRTC leak

You don't always need to disable WebRTC entirely — that breaks video calls. A WebRTC-leak browser extension or a VPN with WebRTC protection is usually the better fix. Our guide, What Is WebRTC and How It Leaks Your IP Address, explains every option, and why hiding your IP isn't enough covers what else can identify you.
